This is a very nice town about a 10 minute walk away from the property that has all the everyday amenities with quite a few new pubs and restaurants springing up on the urbanisation of Benimar, here you can have Indian, Chinese, Spanish or just fast take away food all within a few yards of one another. There are many bars here visited by the local ex pats and a good old English evening can be enjoyed with all the benefits of the Spanish climate.
In 1957 most of the town was destroyed and many of the inhabitants perished when the river Segura burst its banks. Do not worry; this will not happen now because the river has reinforced banks that have sluice gates to control the flow.
